Every Day Offers a New Opportunity. Choose Life.

Image
"Today is the first day of the rest of your life."       - Abbie Hoffman As I pondered this quote, I felt that something in addition should be added.  "Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Choose Accordingly."  Every day is precious and brings us closer to our transition from this life.   While this thought may make some uncomfortable, it is a fact that cannot be denied. I realized this more fully in 2009 after my father transitioned. (I referenced the word “transitioned” versus “died (ceased to live)” because I believe that this life is only a small part of our eternal existence). After my father’s transition, I became acutely aware of my own mortality. I realized that my own time on earth is short. I made the conscious decision that I would live my life more fully and intentional. I also decided that I would not live a life of regrets or at the end of my time on earth that I would regret not doing something. I have to live at my maximum...

Seven Actions To Help You Achieve Your Goals

Image
If you’re tired of making resolutions and goals that you never accomplish, a new approach may help.   Conventional mindset goals can fall apart for several reasons. Once you’re aware of why this happens, you can prevent it or fix it so you can be on your way to achievement. Try these techniques to achieve your goals: 1. Choose realistic goals . One of the most frequent issues is that chosen goals aren't realistic.         For example: Perhaps you want to travel around the globe, read hundreds of books, and lose an enormous amount of weight. However, many of these goals are simply not possible any time soon. You may not have the money for travel, you don’t have the time to read, and you can’t lose weight that  quickly.          ○    It's important to make your goals tangible. For example, instead of trying to lose one       hundred pounds, focus on losing five pounds at a time....

Who is waiting for you to fulfill your Purpose? Moving Towards Your Purpose In Spite of the Fear.

Image
Every day, I get to speak with people who want to improve their lives by finding their next career opportunity. Often these conversations gravitate into them sharing their dreams and their fears of those obstacles that keep them from accomplishing their goals. I am always humbled that they would share intimate details usually shared only with close confidants. I am also amazed that many of them don't recognize their own genius or don’t move forward with their goals due to multiple reasons; usually, all based on fear.    If this is your story or something similar, then this post is for you.  What do you believe or what do you tell yourself that is keeping you from your purpose or those things that you were created to do?     What did you fail to accomplish in 2018 or previous years that while it is your “dream” or “calling” you never got around to doing it because you were afraid?  What voices are telling you that you can’t do it; it’s...

Today Chronicles: No Bitterness After Betrayal

Image
The Today Chronicles was created to be in an inspiration to others as I reflect on my experiences and life lessons. At the end of the day, I have learned that no matter what I go through in life, The Most High has always been a consistent comforter and provider for me. I forever honor and give him praise!  In this chronicle, I discuss my past struggles with trusting others due to disappointment derived during childhood and into adulthood. I grew to realize that having bitterness or penalizing others for the disappointment done by someone else was not healthy for me nor my relationships. I had a choice to make. I chose to have No Bitterness After Betrayal. I hope you enjoy the video! : Most photos as indicated by Unsplash.com. Today I Cried. It Will Get Better.

Image
Will it last forever? Today I cried. When I stopped to think about who I’ve become. I cried. Where was the cheerful, immature innocence that I once had?  I don’t know this person staring back at me in the mirror. The degraded confidence, the empty stare. Who’s in there? Where did the power, laughter, confidence go?  How can I find it? I want it back. I need it back. I’ll have it back. Hello.  It’s me.   The struggle What do you do when the challenges and storms of life have seemed to push you so far that the only way you can protect yourself is to hide in a shell of your true self? The storms keep coming and you wonder if it will ever end. You struggle to remember the last time you experienced true peace. It seems like such a distant memory. Meanwhile, you try everything you can to hold it together because surely the suffering can’t last forever. Can it? You pray to God to help you get through the pain. Life’s experiences have taught you not ...

A Purpose Revealed. Is this the Year You Pursue Yours?

Image
Children at play. What dream did you have when you were a child?  Continuing my theme of helping people with their purpose this year, I wanted to add a snippet from a book I started years ago and that I am currently working on. Will 2018 be the year you finally start working on your "purpose?" “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord.  They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.  In those days when you pray, I will listen.  If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me.  I will be found by you.” says the Lord. - Jeremiah 29: 11-12 (NLT) Do you remember when you were a child and you knew exactly what you wanted to do when you grew up? However, as you grew older, there were life-changing events that impacted your decision so much you changed your career choice.  Those life-changing events could have been a death in a family, an abusive or embarrassing situation or a comment f...

Uncovering a Mask: Finishing the year in my Purpose

Image
I felt as if I was spinning my wheels.  At the beginning of this year, my goal was to understand and operate within my purpose.  I knew that it would require a great deal of faith, scary faith.  But it really didn’t matter because I was at the end of myself, tired of doing the same thing with limited results.  I had to release control and give it over to my creator who knew what he had purposed for me. I am reminded of that in one of my favorite bible verse: Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) – For I know the thoughts I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. God had something he wanted me to do.  The fear of stepping in the unknown was far less than the fear of not pleasing God or fulfilling my purpose.  I just couldn’t be satisfied as I was. I knew that I couldn’t go on the way I have been.  Sure, I accomplished a lot of the thing things I set out to do, but God had another plan....

Continuing the Pursuit of A Dream in 2017

Image
This entry is actually based on one of my original and very first blogs from 2012, titled Pursuing the Dream! Some insights as I explore my past writing: Reviewing my old articles and notes reminds me of why I really started doing a lot of the things I'm currently doing like my business, inspirational articles and videos and most of all the writing. It seems that my first love, (fiction writing) is the one that I've sacrificed more than anything.  My writing is cathartic for me. It always made me feel alive!  I enjoyed envisioning characters and really becoming them as I penned their stories. I don't know if some of it was mental work where I had to work through some of my own issues.  Not even issues that I fully recognized in my daily activities, but maybe something that was deep in my subconscious that materialized on paper.  Somehow I always resonated with all of the characters that I wrote about;  both male and female.  It's as if I worked...

One of My Favorite Reads that Helps To Ignore The "Haters"

Image
One of my favorite reads is the book Instinct: The Power to Unleash Your Inborn Drive by T.D. Jakes. It is life changing! The book, Instinct, offers tips on how to find your "core" or true purpose and taps into ways to maximize it. Many successful people state that they experienced their best success when they were true to their own genuine self and didn't try to duplicate others. How many times have we done that? This book definitely helps with that. One of my favorite quotes is from an appearance of Bishop Jakes on Oprah's LifeClass in 2014; "We eat from the level of our vision. When you are a giraffe and get criticism from turtles, they are reporting from the level they are. When you are built to be tall (like the giraffe), you will endanger your position if you lower your perspective, you cannot explain to a turtle a giraffe decision." The thought is that both a giraffe and a turtle are in the same jungle. However, a giraffe eats and operates from a ...

A New Beginning! (Repost from September, 2012 - original 2007 - edited)

Image
As the month of September draws to a close, it is time to be reminded of what has transpired in 2017 to this point. Was the beginning of the year hopeful for you when you explored all of the wonderful possibilities that the year would bring? Did you energetically charge full steam ahead in targeting your goals? Did the middle of the year make your dreams wane a little or did it plant a seed for what you hoped for in January? The 2nd quarter of the year brings spring and perhaps a fresh perspective. The 3rd quarter inevitably brings planning and preparation for the last part of the year, the 4th quarter; the time when your goals and dreams will be realized if you consistently work towards them. Now as we embark toward the end of the year, does it seem a little disappointing because the fervor and excitement at the beginning of the year have somewhat diminished? Maybe during the middle of the year, those hopes seemed very distant and unreachable for you. It could be because of u...

In 2017, Moving In Faith Toward My Purpose! (Repost from January 01, 2017)

Image
Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for. The evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith, it is impossible to please Him for he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.   As I reviewed and bid my final farewell to 2016, I was amazed at my growth from the spiritual, personal and professional perspectives.  2015 and 2016 were both very challenging years for me. I faced decisions that presented themselves as critical crossroads for me. I had to end relationships that turned out to be destructive. I also had to face the realities of many my age with senior care for my aging mother while trying to navigate my business. I also had to decide on whether or not to continue the business or to go back to working for a company.  The challenge was that my prior profession would require 50-60 hour weeks that I would now be unable to manage as I cared for my mother....

Welcome to the NetKiEnt Inspiration Blog!

Image
As I sit here and begin my first entry into this post, I realize that the true reason why I even started this blog was to authentically share and encourage my readers. This blog actually originated back in 2007 on one of my earlier websites.  It wasn't named NetKiEnt Inspiration, but the goal has always been the same; to inspire and help motivate others to fulfill their purpose in life. Over the years, as web companies changed, I became busy, focused on my management career or other interests, the blog fell by the wayside  However, I kept a copy of most of my posts, of which I will share from time to time. Even though the blog fell by the wayside, I never stopped writing. Pursuing my business, writing, speaking and helping others pursue their purpose helps me fulfill my purpose. About Me. I should start first by introducing myself. My name is Nanette Kirk, my company is NetKi Enterprises, LLC. We specialize in professional resume writing/career services and motivatio...
